Norcross was founded in 1870 as a railroad town on the Richmond & Danville Railroad and named for former congressman Jonathan Norcross, Atlanta’s fourth mayor. It grew as a resort destination in the 1880s with the Brunswick Hotel and became known as “Atlanta’s Summer Resort” for its cool springs and train access.
