2025 Georgia Car Window Tint Laws – Exact Legal Limits
Georgia allows window tint — but it is strictly regulated. Going too dark can result in tickets, court dates, and forced removal (often $400–$800 total loss).
Visible Light Transmission (VLT%) = how much light must pass through film + glass combined.
Passenger Cars (sedans, coupes, hatchbacks):
- Windshield: Non-reflective tint only on the top 6 inches (AS-1 line)
- Front side windows: Must allow 32%+ VLT
- Back side & rear windows: Must allow 32%+ VLT
Trucks, SUVs, Vans:
- Front side windows: Must allow 32%+ VLT
- All glass behind the driver: Any darkness allowed (including 5% limo)
Reflectivity (all vehicles):
- No more than 20% reflective on any window
Restricted colors: Red, amber, yellow, and full mirror finishes are illegal.
Medical exemptions: Georgia does allow darker tint with a doctor’s prescription. We help with the paperwork.
